Did you know that only 13 states in the U.S. require medically accurate sex education in schools (SIECUS)? That means that 37 states are not meeting the needs of the children who should be learning about how to take care of their bodies, how to have safe relationships with others, how to practice consent, and more. That is why Sex Education Nation

,(@sexedunation) was created. If we can’t educate our students in school, why not take it online? Tik Tok, for example, has approximately 136.42 million users. Of those, 25% are between the ages of 10-19 (Howarth 2023). By targeting the young demographic of this app, Sex Education Nation has been able to reach millions of users on the topic of birth control, abortion access, menstruation, supporting queer youth, STI prevention, and reducing shame on these topics. This presentation will explore the impact of Sex Education in a digitally literate world for a broad audience of learners of all ages, backgrounds, and identities. We will discuss issues which involve the LGBTQIA community and how to better serve this community. Participants will discuss what age appropriate language and content is best for students because kids can start learning Sex Ed. starting in Kindergarten. We will discuss how to be culturally competent sexual health educators, keeping in mind that all learners, despite their background, are important contributors to the learning environment. Lastly, we will discuss how accessible digital learning is the education of the future.
